About FMD: Overview
We are one of the largest divisions on campus comprised of over 400 team members. It takes the combined commitment of hundreds of skilled trades personnel – electricians, plumbers, carpenters, tinsmiths, pipefitters, painters, welders, masons, locksmiths, power engineers, upholsterers, roofers, glaziers, flooring installers, and service, automotive, and instrumentation mechanics, as well as dedicated service workers such as labourers, ground workers, and custodians – and a staff of professional architects, planners, engineers, development and project managers, interior designers, and financial and space analysts, as well as mechanical, electrical, and architectural technologists, to care and plan for future needs of the university.
FMD provides services to a daily campus population of approximately 30,000 students, faculty and support staff within a total floor space exceeding 5,000,000 square feet and 700 hectares of land.
The continued physical development of the campus will reflect the strategic priorities of the University and convey a sense of pride of place. FMD works to build, maintain and develop an institution that is beautiful, functional, efficient and sustainable. We are building a community.
